Eledone cirrhosa (Lamarck, 1798)

Mantle length up to 250 mm. Distribution in low boreal to tropical waters in the eastern Atlantic, along the European and African shores, and Mediterranean Sea. It is a benthic species, confined to the shelfs, down to 500 m water depth. It is important source for fisheries, and is well studied. It is occasionally recorded on the Norwegian shelf south of Tromsø and is very rare in Icelandic waters.
