Bak og hliðar möttlulbúks er þakið húðtotum, hver með 3 til 7 brjóskkennda hvíta hnúða. Fjórir til fimm stórar húðtotur liggja fast við hvort auga. Armar jafnlangir og tiltölulega stuttir (2,3 til 3,5 föld lengd möttulbúks). Milli armanna eru strengd húðfit, sem ná fram um 2/3 af armlengdinni, en þar fyrir framan nær fitið áfram meðfram jöðrum armanna allt til endanna. Sogskálar á örmum mynda einfalda röð; á stærstu dýrum eru allt að 70 til 80 sogskálar á hverjum armi, allar af svipaðri stærð. Litarhaft gjarnan dökk fjólublátt með brúnleitum blæ. Mesta staðfesta lengd á möttulbúk er 110 mm. Útbreidd um norðanvert Atlantshaf á 850 til 2500 m dýpi frá um 40°N til um 70°N. Lífshættir eru illa þekktir.

Graneledone verrucosa (Verrill, 1881)

Maximum confirmed mantle length is about 100 mm, but clearly larger individuals exist. Benting deep water species, found in the North Atlantic from 800 to 2500 m water depth. Life habits are little known.
