(Muusoctopus johnsonianus)

Almennt

Muusoctopus johnsonianus (Allock et al. 2006)

Mantle length up to 113 mm, but most probably larger individuals exist. It is a benthic deep water species, found at more than 2500 m water depth. Almost nothing is known of its biology and ecology. Confirmed distribution is from 49º N to 59º N in the eastern part og North Atlantic at the continetal slopes; it is also present in the western part of the North Atlantic at the nearly same latitudes (M. Vecchione, pers. comm.). In Icelandic waters (BIOICE samples) it is distributed south of Greenland-Scotland Ridge (south of 62.6º – 65.9º N).
