Almennt
Sepietta oweniana (Orbigny, 1839)
Largest published mantle length is 50 mm. It is a necto-benthic species, confined to the continental shelfs and slopes, occurring down to 1100 m water depth. The species is relatively well studied; it is distributed in the low boreal to tropical waters in the eastern Atlantic, along the African and European shores, up to the northern part of the North Sea, although it occasionally enters the low Arctic waters. It may occur in Icelandic waters, as it has in recent years, been expanding its northern range. However, there are no voucher specimens of S. oweniana form Icelandic waters, in the IINH collections.
