Substrate: silty sand, sandy and stony gravel, stones, hard bottom.

Temperature: -0,63° - 8,32°C.

Water salinity: 34.26 -35,2

World distribution: Spitzbergen, Northern Norway, Iceland

World bathymetrical range: 10 - 2000 m

Remarks: The species has been mixed with L. asellus. Thus old records of both species are to be reconsidered, as they hardly can be trusted (Kaas & Van Belle 1985a). According to Kaas & Van Belle (1985a) L. arcticus is always found below 10 m depth, thus the record from the shore at Stykkishólmur also may be doubthful.
