Biloculinella inflata (Wright, 1902)
Biloculina inflata – Wright, J. 1902: Foraminifera, in Reade, T.M., Glacial and Post-Glacial features of the lower valley of the River Lune and its estuary. Liverpool Geol. Soc. Proc., vol. 9, p. 183, Pl. 13, figs. 1-4.
Description: Test lenticular in end view and ovate in outline. Chambers embracing, one-half colil in length and added in a spiral plane, similar to Pyrgo. Sutures distinct and sinuous at the aboral end. Wall smooth, polished, thin and nearly transparent. Aperture covered with a broad apertural flap, resulting in narrow curved slit at the end of a protruding apertural face. Length of largest specimen 0,7 mm, but is usually less than 0,5 mm. About 90 specimens were picked from 12 of the 1031 Bioice samples that were checked for forams.
Diagnosis: Resembles Pyrgo pyxis in shape and size, but differs in having an curved apertural slit devoid of a bifid tooth.
