Ophthalmina kilianensis Rhumbler, 1936

Description:  Test discoidal, concave and ovate in outline, with rounded periphery; mostly planispiral and evolute. The first chambers are tubular and half a coil in length, arranged in an irregular spiral, where each whorl seems slightly oblique to the previous whorl; latest chambers are half a coil and nearly planispiral, much inflated and embracing; sometimes covering in part or wholly the initial whorls. Aperture is a simple opening at the end of the tube and without a tooth. Largest specimen is 0,7 mm, but commonly around 0,5 mm. In all 25 specimens were picked from 8 of the 1031 Bioice samples that were checked for forams.

Diagnosis: The irregular initial spiral and semi-transparent test render this species distinct from all other miliolids in Icelandic waters.
