Nature Conservation Register of Iceland – The conservation value of nature in Iceland

The primary aim of the project is to document nature conservation sites and assess of their conservation value, as per Article 13 of Act no. 60/2013 on nature conservation in Iceland, which entrusts the Icelandic Institute of Natural History with the management of Part C of the Nature Conservation Register (Náttúruminjaskrá). The IINH makes recommendations on new sites for inclusion, in consultation with the Expert Council of the Natural Conservation Register, cf. Article 15. The IINH also makes recommendations on nature conservation  sites for inclusion in the strategic plan of the Nature Conservation Register (Part B).
