Cirroteuthis muelleri Eschricht, 1836
Mantle length up to 350 mm. It is deep-water species, with a bentho-pelagic habit, and has been found at 4900 m water depth. It is found in parts of Arctic Sea, including the Central Polar Basin, and the deep-water areas in high boreal Atlantic waters. In the vicinity of Iceland it is most abundant in the Arctic and the Arctic-boreal areas, and is mostly replaced by Stauroteuthis syrtensis in the boreal and Arctic-boreal areas. It is the only cirrate octopod that inabits the Arctic waters.
