Involvohauerina globularis Loeblich and Tappan, 1955

Involvohauerina globularis - A.R. Loeblich and H.Tappan, 1988, Foraminiferal genera and their classification, p.339, pl. 349, figs. 1 - 4.

Description: Test sub-globular; chamber arrangement initially quinqueloculine, later planispirally arranged sub-globular chambers, usually three or two per whorl. Aperture cribrate, individual pores range in outline from round, or elongated to slightly dentritic; some of the openings have narrow bordering rims. Wall is thick and sturdy; surface is smooth but minutely pitted in larger specimens. Diameter of the largest specimen is nearly 30 mm, but most are close to 2 mm.

Diagnosis: Chamber arrangement and the gereal shape of the test resembles Planispirinoides bucculentus, which differs in that the aperture is a slit instead of being cribrate as in I.globularis.
