Hauerina earlandi – Rasheed, D.A. 1971 [aff.]. Some foraminifera belonging to Miliolidae and Ophthalmidiidae from the Coral Sea, south of Papua (New Guinea). Part 2. Madras University, Jour. Madras, India, sec. B, vol. 37-38 (1967-1968), p. 54-55.

Miliola earlandi (Rasheed, 1971) - Haig, D.W. 1988. Miliolid foraminfera from inner neritic sand and mud facies of the Papua Lagoon, New Guinea. Journal of Foraminiferal Research, vol. 18, no.3: pl.2, figs.8-9

Description: Test sub-triangular in end view and semi-circular to ovate in side view; chambers inflated. Chamber arrangement is triloculine; three chambers externally visible. Aperture ovate in juveniles, but cribrate in adults, consisting of numerous irregularly rounded to elongate openings, each bordered with a rim; apertural face slightly raised. Sutures flush but distinct. Test walls rather thin and moderately sturdy; surface sligthly corrugated and smooth, except for a coarse surface between the apertural openings. Length of largest specimen is over 1,5 mm, but most are around 1 mm.

Diagnosis: Test shape and chamber arrangement resembles Cruciloculina ericsoni and Cruciloculina asanoi, but differs in having a cribrate aperture.

Remarks: The type locality of H. earlandi is a shallow water tropical habitat. Whether the present specimens from the North Atlantic are conspecific, needs further validation.
