Quinqueloculina nitida Nørvang, 1945

Quinqueloculina nitita Nørvang, A. 1945,  Foraminifera. The Zoology of Iceland, vol. 2, part 2, p. 7, fig. 1.

Description: Test ovate in side view, nearly twice as long as broad; ovate to subtriangular in end view. Test wall thin, somewhat translucent, surface matte; sutures distinct, chambers inflated and broadly rounded, sometimes slightly angled; aperture large, bifid tooth absent or very small, with very short base and small separated tines; apertural rim slightly thickened and everted. Length of most specimens is close to 0,5 mm, but the largest reach 1 mm.

Diagnosis:  Thin and nearly transparent test wall, large aperture with reduced or absent tooth, distinguishes this species from other quinqueloculines in Icelandic waters.
